The basic demographic information for the Gert Sibande District Municipality area is reflected in the tables for easy reference. A single source of data, namely 2001 Census Data, is used for the study area to ensure consistency and a uniform base of comparison. This Census Data is compared to the 2000 Demarcation Board data which is and statistical adjustment of the 1996 Census data.
