Minister Blade Nzimande officially opened the Gert Sibande TVET College, Balfour Campus, in Mpumalanga, marking a significant milestone in the Department of Higher Education and Training’s efforts to expand Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to rural communities. The new campus was established to address the growing demand for TVET sector, with enrolments increasing from 170 students in 2014 to 571 students currently.

This campus is one of 12 new campuses built by the Department as part of its infrastructure expansion programme in the Post-School Education and Training (PSET) system. The official opening of the Balfour Campus represents a crucial step forward in providing accessible and quality education to the youth and communities in Balfour, promoting skills development and economic growth.

The Department’s commitment to TVET education and infrastructure development demonstrates its dedication to making TVET Colleges institutions of first choice, providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the workforce and drive economic development.

This new campus will offer a diverse range of programmes designed to meet the demands of our evolving economy, from engineering and information technology to healthcare and hospitality.
