Whip of Council
The Office of the Whip of Council was established to create synergy and to maintain discipline among Councillors from various Political Parties.
He is responsible for administering the whipping system which ensures that members of the party attend and vote in the council as the party leadership desires.
He ensures that the relationship between political parties is constructive and focused on key issues aimed at improving service delivery.

He provides feedback to the ANC concerning how local government’s performance in line with the party’s election manifesto He ensures that councillors attend to their duties and remain accountable.
The Whip of Council also serves as the Chief Whip of the ruling party and his responsibilities include the management of the Whippery of the ANC. The role of the Whippery is to manage the study groups and ensure that a member of the party speak in one voice.
The Whip of Council also serves as a link between the ruling party and its councillors
He is the strategist of the party at council as he further coordinates the municipality’s Chief Whips Forum and Chair its meetings
