The Executive Mayor of Gert Sibande District Municipality
We encourage young people in the District to have in place career plans which are considerate of the growing urgency in both the private and public sectors to prioritise scarce skills. Government has provided various platforms and programmes to promote the production of scarce skills. We therefore encourage young people to grab these opportunities, not only for their personal benefit but also for the benefit of their District and the country at large.
The liberation struggle by the freedom fighters was also for economic liberation and it is up to all of us, mostly the young people to ensure that the struggle and the sacrifices made were not in vain. Charity begins at home; consider joining the local government workforce in your career choices. Be the reason that more citizens in the country have access to basic services and a better life by making the relevant career choices.
